Trace Beaulieu.

Trace Beaulieu (born November 6, 1958) is a Cinematic Titanic writer and cast member. A puppeteer, writer, and actor, he is best known for playing Dr. Clayton Deborah Susan Forrester and Crow T. Robot on Mystery Science Theater 3000. He is married.

For the first seven seasons of MST3K, Beaulieu operated and voiced the Crow puppet and played the role of Dr. Forrester, who was the head mad scientist, or "mad." Initially Dr. Forrester was assisted by Dr. Laurence Erhardt (Josh "J. Elvis" Weinstein). His second assistant was TV's Frank, played by Frank Conniff. Following the departure of Frank at the end of the sixth season, Mary Jo Pehl joined the cast in his place, playing Forrester's mother Pearl. At the end of a truncated seventh season, Beaulieu left the series. Pehl's Pearl Forrester character replaced him as the head "mad" and Bill Corbett took over the voicing and operation of Crow.

In the early 1990s, Beaulieu was a member of the Minneapolis band "The Sleepers," who once played 112 venues in the same city on one day, setting a world record.[1]

Beaulieu appeared as a semi-regular in Freaks and Geeks as the school's biology teacher, Mr. Lacovara. He also appeared in The West Wing episode "Bad Moon Rising." For the last few years, Beaulieu has been a writer for America's Funniest Home Videos and in 2002 he was the head writer, producer and host of the pilot episode of the Animal Planet show People Traps. Outside of acting, Beaulieu also wrote the script for the one-shot comic book "Here Come The Big People" published by Event Comics.

As of 2019, Trace Beaulieu performs with Frank Conniff as "The Mads" in several capacities, including a podcast and a traveling live show. They appeared together (along with many of their former castmates) at the special live MST3K Reunion show put on by RiffTrax in 2016. Trace and Frank also performed on the tag-team RiffTrax production for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (which also included Mary Jo Pehl).
